Installing plugins on MoodleCloud sites

Modified on Tue, 18 Feb at 9:16 PM

MoodleCloud sites have selected plugins pre-installed, and to keep the platform simple and stable for all users, individual site administrators cannot install their own plugins.

  • MoodleCloud sites include most of the standard Moodle LMS features as well as some additional plugins, such as the Attendance activity and the Custom Certificate module.
  • Also included is an integrated, open-source web conferencing System, BigBlueButton.
  • Some features have been preconfigured or disabled. Please refer to Preconfigured MoodleCloud features for more information.
  • For example, MoodleCloud doesn’t have a proctoring plugin and it cannot be installed in your MoodleCloud site. An alternative is to use Safe Exam Browser (SEB) on MoodleCloud to provide closed-book assessments.
    • SEB is the best way to restrict exams on MoodleCloud. This browser restricts the functions of the computer when the exam is on.
    • SEB does not work with Chromebooks. This is due to it running a particular operating system that is not supported by SEB.
    • You can learn more about Safe Exam Browser here.
    • If you need to install a proctoring plugin then you may need to move your site to a Moodle Certified Service Provider hosting.

*If you still require a plugin to be installed, you might want to consider downloading our full version of Moodle to install on your own server, or a paid hosting service. Alternatively, you can contact one of our Moodle Certified Partners for them to set it up for you.
