To access BigBlueButton on MoodleCloud you need to create a BigBlueButton activity in your course.
You can add a BigBlueButton activity to any course. Here’s how:
- Click to Turn the editing mode on.
- Go to the Topic and click Add an activity or resource.
- Add a Room name, Welcome message, choose your settings (including whether the sessions can be recorded), and then Save and Display. Please note that if you uncheck The session may be recorded option, the Start/Stop Recording button will NOT appear in your sessions and the server will not record any content.
- Once saved, participants can join in.
- You can also record these sessions in BigBlueButton.
- To access the recordings, first click on the BigBlueButton activity.
- Any recordings will show below the Recordings heading when they are ready (this may take a few minutes to occur).
- The recordings can be reviewed (but not downloaded) so those learners who could not join the session live, can view it later.
- Please note that the recording processing takes approximately the same amount of time as the full duration of the live session and does not begin until the session has ended or all attendees have logged out of the BigBlueButton.
- On our time-limited MoodleCloud Free Trial sites, recordings are available for 7 days.
- For MoodleCloud paid plans, recordings are made available for 1 year after the session has finished.
- For our legacy Starter plan (prior to November 2020), there is no option to record BBB sessions, in order to access this feature you will need to upgrade your site.
- These recordings are stored on the BigBlueButton server and are not downloadable, so they do not count towards your file storage on your MoodleCloud site.
*If you are having issues with your BigBlueButton we suggest you contact Blindside Networks, who own the plugin, by visiting their community pages or our Moodle Forum discussions on using BigBlueButton.
