You can upgrade your MoodleCloud Plan at any time via the MoodleCloud Portal (whereas downgrading to a smaller plan has to be requested).
The "Upgrade plan" option can be used to:
- Upgrade from a time-limited Free Trial to a paid Standard Plan,
- Upgrade from a smaller to a larger Standard Plan (only pay the pro-rata difference), or
- Reactivate a suspended/cancelled plan (due to payment failure).
Please note: Payment in advance is not available and the "Upgrade plan" option does not process this.
If you have a time-limited Free Trial and want to continue using it, upgrading will sign you up to an annual paid subscription for a MoodleCloud Standard Plan. Keep in mind that we cannot extend your trial period; please refer to the article Extend my MoodleCloud Free trial to learn more.
If you have an existing plan and you need more users or storage, you can suspend users and optimise storage to meet subscription plan quotas. For more active users or onsite storage, follow the process below to upgrade to a larger MoodleCloud Standard Plan. When upgrading, you will only be charged the pro rata difference between your current plan and your new plan, based on your renewal date.
If your existing plan has been suspended due to failed payments, "Upgrade plan" will reactivate your subscription and unsuspend your site.
Before you upgrade your plan:
- Log in to your MoodleCloud Portal,
- If necessary, update your Account information in the "Account" section (top right corner).
- This information will appear on your invoice!
- It is also where you can add your VAT details (relevant to EU and UK).
- If you have multiple sites, select the relevant site (from the drop-down list next to "Get another site" in the Portal).
- If required, you can review plan options in the "Change plan" tab.
To upgrade your plan:
- To upgrade your Free MoodleCloud Trial site to a paid plan, or to upgrade your current subscription to a larger plan, select "Upgrade plan" (as per screenshot below) in the "Package" tab.
- The "Upgrade your plan" window will load:
- Select the plan that best suits your needs (keep in mind it is easy to upgrade, but downgrading to a smaller plan is not possible via the portal).
- Verify the Total shown and that it includes or excludes any local taxes that may be relevant.
- If you are in the UK/EU and have a VAT number, make sure you have added it and that it is not added to the total! If it is, please contact the MoodleCloud Team, before paying!
- Check your payment method (billing details) - if you have previously added or updated your payment method, it should already be visible.
- Subscription fees are charged and invoiced in AUD only and local taxes may apply.
- If you are upgrading from a Free Trial site and you have not already added it, you will need to add your payment method (only Visa, Mastercard and PayPal are accepted);
- If you are upgrading from an existing subscription, your payment method will be visible.
- If you are reactivating a cancelled subscription plan, you may need to check and update your payment method.
- Subscription fees are charged and invoiced in AUD only and local taxes may apply.
- Select "Pay now" to upgrade (subscribe) to your new MoodleCloud Standard Plan subscription.
- Your site and subscription will take a minute or so to upgrade, and user and storage quotas allocated to your selected plan will then be available.
- Please note: if you are upgrading from a Free Trial, your previous BigBlueButton session recordings will expire and will no longer be available.
- You can find and download your MoodleCloud invoice in the "Billing" tab.
*Explore your subscription plan options on our MoodleCloud Standard Plan webpage.
*If you have any questions or issues with the upgrade process, please contact the MoodleCloud Team.
