Moodle is committed to providing open source, e-learning tools for educators. As part of our mission, we offer MoodleCloud to eligible, registered Not-for-Profit and Non-Government Organisations at no cost, to help support their work in the global community.

If you are an NFP/NGO and interested in applying, the base eligibility criteria are:

  • The NFP/NGO is registered in its country of operation,
  • Have an annual operating budget less than 2 million AUD,
  • Access to the content that is hosted on the MoodleCloud site is not charged for,
  • Further eligibility criteria will also be applied during the application process.

Information and documents you need to provide as part of the application:

  • Financial statement/summary from the previous financial year or an annual budget for the current year,
  • An outline for the intended use of the MoodleCloud site,
  • Link to your organisation's website,
  • The details of your existing MoodleCloud site, if you have one.

To apply for a free NFP/NGO MoodleCloud site:

  • Complete and submit the NFP Application form with all required links and documents.
  • Please note that the assessment process may take up to 4 weeks.

Ongoing eligibility for the MoodleCloud NFP/NGO program:

  • To keep your MoodleCloud site active, it must be accessed by the account admin at least once within every three-month period after your application is approved.
  • Eligibility of the NFP/NGO and site content will be reviewed and assessed on an annual basis.

The NFP/NGO program and criteria are reviewed regularly, if this affects an NFP/NGO, they will be contacted to discuss the changes.
